"I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly" (Jn 10:10)

"We commend all who proclaim and serve the Gospel of life. By their peaceful activism, education and prayer, they witness to God's truth and embody our Lord's command to love one another as he loved us." (Living the Gospel of Life: A Challenge to American Catholics U.S. Catholic Bishops, No. 31)

Statement of Purpose

The mission and purpose of the Respect Life Office is to serve the Cardinal Archbishop by assisting the clergy and laity in promoting a consistent ethic of life. This mission is accomplished through its four office departments with initiatives that provide education and formation, advocacy, pastoral care, access, and prayer and worship. These activities address the threats to the sanctity and respect for all human life: abortion, euthanasia, capital punishment, discrimination and exclusion.

Office staff provide pastoral and spiritual support for persons faced with significant life decisions, for the Deaf Community, for persons with disabilities, for individuals infected or impacted by HIV/AIDS, and for the poor and elderly. The Respect Life Office serves as an advocate for all persons in every state and condition of life, from conception to natural death.

In collaboration with other Archdiocesan entities, the Respect Life Office assists in providing continuing formation of the clergy and laity on a wide range of human life issues affecting the faithful of the Archdiocese.
