ARCHDIOCESE DEPARTS FOR PILGRIMAGE TO WASHINGTON, D.C.
First Official Event of the Bicentennial


The Archdiocese of Philadelphia will make a Pilgrimage to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. Buses will be departing from parishes across the 5 counties in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Buses will also be departing from in front of the Archdiocesan Office Center. These buses will carry more than 90 members of the Elementary Bicentennial Chorus, their parents and chaperones.

This Pilgrimage will help the Archdiocese begin the celebration of its Bicentennial. Cardinal Justin Rigali, Archbishop of Philadelphia, Bishops, Priests, Religious and thousands of laity will rededicate themselves to Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Cardinal Rigali opened the Bicentennial with a Proclamation read at Masses on Easter Sunday. During the Bicentennial Year, the Archdiocese will hold events including the Pilgrimage, a concert at the Kimmel Center, and the Amazing Race for Grace.
