Called to Protect
Awareness Session for Parents

Parents are the first and most influential teachers of their children. They are responsible for the spiritual, moral, emotional, physical and intellectual development of their children. This is an awesome responsibility.

To support parents, the Office for Child and Youth Protection offers "Called to Protect", an awareness session for parents concerning the prevention of child sexual abuse. This one-hour awareness session consists of a video presentation and facilitated discussion. Parents receive information concerning the importance of watching the behavior of adults, acting when they notice warning signs and talking to their children about their safety. This awareness session helps parents to know how and when to hold these difficult, yet necessary, conversations.

Awareness and education are key to the prevention of child sexual abuse. If you wish to schedule a “Called to Protect” awareness session at your parish, please call the Office for Child and Youth Protection at 215-587-2466.

May God continue to bless and guide all that we do to keep children from harm.

If you or someone you know have experienced an incident of sexual abuse by clergy, employee or volunteer of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, please contact the office of the Victim Assistance Coordinators at 1-888-800-8780 - philavac@adphila.org.
