WORLD PEACE
Each New Year provides us an opportunity to make resolutions for ourselves. We leave the past behind and look to what we hope will be a better future.
A significant resolution for humanity is peace in the world. Peace, as Vatican Council II taught, "is more than the absence of war... Peace on earth ... flows from love of one's neighbor ... and derives from the peace of Christ" (Gaudium et spes, no. 78).
At the beginning of this New Year, I invite everyone to join me in praying that peace and good will reigns in the hearts of all people. In this way, all will come to love one another, and a true and lasting peace will reign in our world.
