TEACHING CHILDREN VALUES

Hello, this is Cardinal Rigali.

Next week is Catholic Schools Week. It will be an opportunity for us to think about the importance of educating our children, not just with the essential knowledge they will need to make a place for themselves in the world, but more importantly with the essential knowledge of how to achieve eternal life.

Teaching children is an essential responsibility of our community. What we say and how we act influences the life of our young people. They are eager to learn values like integrity, courage, self-discipline, respect, hope in Jesus and service to others. They learn these things from the people closest to them, their parents, grandparents, teachers and friends. All of us are teachers when we are good examples for our children.

May God bless you.
