SAINT PATRICK

Hello, this is Cardinal Rigali.

On March 17, we celebrate Saint Patrick's Day. For many people, this is an opportunity to celebrate Irish heritage and culture. However, in honoring Saint Patrick, we celebrate a great saint who was faithful to the Gospel and to Christ's mission, in spite of opposition, hardship and suffering.

Saint Patrick wrote: "whatever will come my way, whether good or bad, I may accept calmly, and always give thanks to God, who has shown me how I should believe in him unfailing without end" (The Confession of Saint Patrick).

In our own difficulties, we must be faithful - even joyful - in the knowledge that God loves us and that He is with us. He sustains us in our efforts to serve Him and gives us strength to persevere.

May God bless you!
