Mary/Motherhood

Hello, this is Cardinal Rigali.

Mothers have a special vocation in life. They have a nurturing role in their families. This vocation brings a mixture of joy as well as suffering for mothers, who often put the needs of their children first.

Mary, the Blessed Mother, enjoyed the sweetness of motherhood when she gave birth to Jesus. Later, she experienced deep sorrow when her only Son died on the Cross. Mary’s life shows us the depth of a mother’s love, a love so deep that she selflessly accepted God’s plan for her.

Motherhood brings many blessings to women and to all of us in society. I pray that God will be a source of strength for all mothers in their essential vocation of caring for their children and family.

May God bless you!
