One of the five goals of Cluster 16's Pastoral Plan, which was accepted by His Eminence, Anthony Cardinal Bevilacqua on January 8, 1999, was "to offer quality Catholic Education which meets the changing Cluster needs." As part of the ongoing process of implementing this Cluster Goal, the Cluster Implementation Committee established a Cluster Education Committee, composed of the Pastors, Principals and one lay representative from each of the twelve parishes.
During the past eight years, the schools in Cluster 16 have engaged in a cooperative effort to market the quality of Catholic education in each of the schools and to promote and increase enrollment. During that time, many of the Parishes in the Cluster assessed the quality of Catholic education offered by their school.
On May 17, 2007, His Eminence, Cardinal Rigali, granted permission for St. Adalbert, Nativity B.V.M. and Our Lady Help of Christians Parishes to enter into a feasibility study to review the possible restructuring of Catholic Education along Allegheny Avenue, Port Richmond.
The feasibility study will involve a broad consultation process with their parish and school communities to determine the best way to preserve affordable, quality Catholic education for future generations of children from our parishes. A School Study Committee has been formed in each of
the three parishes. The School Study Committee has gone through a training program to review the consultation process that will be used during the feasibility study. Out of the School Study Committee two lay members have been chosen, along with their Pastors/Parochial Administrator and Principal to represent their parish on the Steering Committee. They ask each of the parishes in Cluster 16 to remember them in prayer throughout the coming months of the feasibility study.
