The Cluster Pastoral Plan includes the following goals:
1) Develop a plan and process for the equitable deployment of Priests that takes into account the canonical and pastoral implications of the deployment.
2) Encourage Catholics to make prayer, including liturgical and personal, central to their lives.
3)Develop cluster-wide processes to insure the maintenance and development of quality Catholic schools.
4)Support and establish adult religious development efforts through the cluster.
5)Reach out and evangelize those distanced from the Church.
6)Develop lay participation and responsibility in the leadership of the Church and plans and programs that will prepare the laity for greater involvement.
7)Focus on Youth.
Our Mother of Consolation is currently staffed by the Augustinian Fathers but will need to be staffed by Diocesan Priests as of July 1999.
In a letter to Father Francia W. Beach, Vicar for Philadelphia-North dated January 21, 1998, Cardinal Bevilacqua accepted the Cluster Pastoral Plan for Cluster 17.
His Eminence, Cardinal Bevilacqua commended the Plan's emphasis on Evangelization, Youth and Spiritual and Religious formation programs for the laity. His Eminence also acknowledged Goal #1 which addresses the deployment of priests, that in the Year 2000, there will be one priest to serve the parishes of St. Josaphat and St. Ladislaus. His Eminence noted that this specific aspect of the plan has had the full consultation and support of the Polish Pastors' Committee.
An implementation Committee will meet in the near future to begin the process of overseeing the
implementation of the goals and objectives for the Cluster Pastoral Plan on a timely basis.
