CLUSTER 19

IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE UPDATE

PHILADELPHIA - NORTH VICARIATE

St. Ambrose St. Helena St. Hugh of Cluny
Holy Angels Incarnation of Our Lord Our Lady of Hope
  St. Veronica

Recommendation Regarding Holy Angels Parish:

The Implementation Committee of Cluster 19 wishes to commend Holy Angels Parish for providing for the spiritual and pastoral needs of the Korean Catholic Community of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia who worship at their parish. We recommend that Holy Angels Parish remain a territorial parish and the site for the Korean Catholic Community for Philadelphia - North, Bucks and Montgomery Counties.

Goal 3 : Make quality Catholic education in parish schools affordable to children of all

parishioners, as well as every child whose parents desire it.

On October 17, 2000, Monsignor Kenneth McAteer and members of Goal 3 Subcommittee met with Jill Snyder and Megan Dougherty from the Office for Development of the Archdiocese regarding Educational Development. The subcommittee gained insights into suggestions for
Educational Development. A Cluster Grant Workshop was held on Tuesday, November 28th at Our Lady of Hope Parish for anyone in the cluster who wanted to learn how to prepare and write grants.

Goal 4: Work at the cluster level to increase our stewardship to support the mission of the
church.

On October 30, 2000, Father James Catagnus and members of Goal 4 Subcommittee met to begin planning for a cluster workshop on Stewardship and Tithing. Mr. Paul Forbes, director of the McKenna Program and Mr. Jerry Botto, director for the Stewardship Program of the Archdiocese were contacted. Dates for these workshops are in the process of being confirmed. All are invited to attend. Look in the next Cluster newsletter for the dates for these workshops.

Goal 5: Share resources to meet common spiritual and social needs.

On October 12 and November 8, 2000, Father Craig Brugger and members of Goal 5 Subcommittee met to begin accessing the spiritual and social needs of the parishes in the cluster. Surveys were sent to Pastors, Chairpersons of the Parish Pastoral Council and members of the Parish Social Outreach Staff.

The Subcommittee will host a gathering for Cluster Social Ministers and Outreach Personnel at St. Helena Rectory on Wednesday, January 17, 2001. The gathering will begin at 3:00 p.m. with a brief prayer/program and buffet dinner. Look for your invitation in the mail.
