JUNE 2004

Our Lady of the Rosary and Our Lady of Victory Parishes
Continue Joint Feasibility Study for Possible Restructuring

Since the May 2004 Communiqué, the Steering Committee has been meeting twice a month as they continue the Study to determine the feasibility of consolidating Our Lady of the Rosary and Our Lady of Victory Parishes.

At this point, the Committee has identified five subcommittees and their goals:

  • Subcommittee for Buildings

Goal: To create a clear and honest assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of all parish buildings.

  • Subcommittee for Communication

Goal: To maintain sufficient and consistent communication among parishioners, neighbors and Steering Committee members.

  • Subcommittee for Finances

Goal: To assess the present financial situations of each parish, and determine financial projections for a consolidated parish that would be self-supportive.

  • Subcommittee for Research

Goal: To assist in our Study by providing pertinent information.

  • Subcommittee for Schools

Goal: To identify the resources and limitations of both parish schools, and to provide recommendations on the feasibility of consolidation.

While members of the Steering Committee will be part of the Subcommittees, other people are being approached to be subcommittee members. Once the membership lists are complete, they will be posted. Should you have an interest in a particular area of the Study, and have the time to commit to this work, you may wish to submit your name for possible membership. The number of members on each Subcommittee, however, is limited. Also, "outside experts" will be invited as consultants to assist the Subcommittees. Each Subcommittee will meet at least once prior to the next meeting of the Steering Committee on July 5th. At that time, they will offer their preliminary reports.

The first action of the Subcommittee for Communication is to provide a "drop box" in each church for parishioners to submit their ideas and questions. This is where you might register in writing your willingness to be part of a subcommittee. Again, your feedback is welcome at any point in the process.
