St. Ann, Phoenixville
St. Mary of the Assumption, Phoenixville
St. Joseph, Spring City
Under the direction of Father Newns, St. Ann Parish, the Implementation and Resource Committee convened on March 20, 2000. Cluster 54 is composed of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, Sacred Heart Parish, Holy Trinity Parish, St. Ann Parish, and St. Joseph Parish. The committee immediately began the task of reorganization. Angela Midgley, St. Ann, accepted the role of recording secretary and Michael Paster, Sacred Heart, became the communications liaison. Patricia Slawecki and Henry Rodrique, both of Sacred Heart, agreed to help Father Newns with the creation of the agenda for future meetings.
Monsignor McDonough, Vicar for Chester County, reviewed the progress of the other clusters in Chester County. He stated that a new parish would be created in the northern part of the county, south of Route 401 on Route 100. He also cited two pressing needs for the cluster to consider. Holy Family School is presently at capacity and is in need of expansion. The need for priests in our cluster will be pressing with the retirement of Monsignor Galyo in 2002. The cluster will discuss these two causes in the near future.
Several examples of cooperation among the cluster parishes were reviewed. It was reported that the Catholic Social Services Outreach Office is currently in place at Holy Trinity and is staffed on Mondays. Father Newns informed the committee that several doctors from the B'nai Jacob Synagogue are eager to help the needy in the community.
The committee will review the Cluster Pastoral Plan for 1998-2003 and establish the goals for the Implementation and Resource Committee for the year 2003. Subcommittees will be created to implement the plan. The next meeting of the IRC will be on June 12 at Sacred Heart School Hall.
