CLUSTER #54 PASTORAL PLAN 1998-2003

IMPLEMENTATION & RESOURCE COMMITTEE

COMMUNIQUÉ

The Cluster 54 Implementation & Resource Committee for the Cluster Pastoral Plan 1998-2003 has met seven times since the Plan was accepted by the Cardinal Archbishop in the summer of 1998.

The first area identified in the Pastoral Plan was to Share/Merge Resources, and the chief and overriding issue here has been the future configuration of parishes in our cluster given the availability of priests for parish work. A related issue that flows from this first concern is the availability of catholic elementary education for the children of our parishes. Holy Family School continues to need more space, and in July 2001, St. Joseph's Parish will become a full partner in our consolidated parish school.

The second area our current Pastoral Plan focused on was Family Life, and this subcommittee has met several times.

The next area address in the Pastoral Plan was Youth Programs. Although a couple of the parishes have some programs for youth and the subcommittee has met, we have not yet reached the point of actions on this need as a Cluster.

The final concern identified in the Pastoral Plan was to Increase Mass Attendance, and this subcommittee has yet to meet.

Another pastoral concern is the newly identified presence of 800 Hispanic people in the Phoenixville area, representing an increase of 400% in the past two years. We are in dialogue with the Archdiocese on how to reach out in this important evangelical and pastoral opportunity.

We now have a Cluster 54 Evangelization Contact Person for the Archdiocese, but we have yet to develop by-laws for our Committee.

Catholic Social Services has assigned a Sister of the Blessed Trinity to our area, and her office is located in the rectory of Holy Trinity Parish. The Sisters of St. Joseph are now renting the rest of Holy Trinity's rectory as a residence for their Sisters.
