EVANGELIZATION - The Evangelization Subcommittee submitted a report. Part I of the report listed ways the parishes are engaged in evangelization. Part II of the report discussed a vision of what parishes can continue to do. Most important is creating an atmosphere of hospitality and welcome in everything the parish does.
MINISTRY TO YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS
- Father Higgins of the Office for Youth and Young Adults in Ardmore, handed out a newly published handbook entitled:
Guide for the Journey: Mapping the Road to Youth Ministry. All
the information from the Archdiocese is available there to assist parishes with youth and young adult activities.
A Eucharistic weekend retreat for youth and young adults will be held on April 5-7, 2002, entitled "REJOICE
2002." World Youth Day will be held in Toronto, Canada in July 2002. More information on both of these events
is available at your rectory.
ADULT EDUCATION AND LAY MINISTRY
- Topics for Adult Education for Advent and Lent were discussed. The subcommittee will compile these programs and
make them available in each of the parishes of the cluster in the near future.
VOCATIONS
- The "Priest Call" program is currently in effect for the year 2001. This program continues to foster
vocations to the Priesthood and Religious life. Please continue to pray that our young adults will be open and
respond to the Lord's call.
SOCIAL JUSTICE
- An Advent Prayer Service for Peace is being planned. Watch for details in your church bulletin.
Catholic Social Services announced that the largest group having the most needs in this cluster are the senior citizens. Parishes have been asked to identify the needy in their parishes and to put programs in place to address their needs. Some parishes already have programs in place.
A change in the demographics of our parishes is evident. We need to be a welcoming community to a changing population. The youth and young adults should be involved and become educated to this change. Hospitality is a most important asset to these changes.
The Catholic Life Congress will be held at the Valley Forge Convention Center on November 16 and17, 2001.
