IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE REPORT
CLUSTER 63: St. Alice Parish, Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, St. Cyril Parish, St. Laurence Parish,
St. Louis Parish, St. Philomena Parish

Each meeting of Cluster 63 focuses on the implementation of goals initially established: Broad-based Religious Educational Programs for All; Youth Ministry-TO Youth FROM Youth; Long-range Plans to Assure the Continued Existence of Parish Schools.

On June 14, 1999 the cluster addressed the specific goal of long range plans to assure the continued existence of parish schools. Reverend Thomas J. Smith, Vicar for Delaware County, welcomed Principals and Business Managers from the various cluster parishes. Committee guests, Sister Constance Marie, IHM, Principal of St. Francis de Sales School, Philadelphia, and Sister Jeannette Lucy, IHM, eighth grade teacher at the school, discussed ways to market Cluster schools and to recruit new students.

The Sisters shared highlights of their successful program at St. Francis de Sales School in Philadelphia. The implementation of an on-going Development and Marketing Program created a positive trend based on a wide range of social contacts interested in the preservation of the school and the significance of its Catholic presence in the area. Grateful for the success of their program, Sisters Constance and Jeannette wanted to share their ideas with other parishes and offered Workshops providing hands-on information on procedures of Marketing and Development. The Sisters received an enthusiastic response from the cluster parishes.

The final meeting of the year assessed the success of goal implementation. Parishes reported a steady pace and progress in continuing to implement the goals with an emphasis on the individuality and uniqueness of each parish's needs. Focus on these goals as well as new needs that may arise was emphasized.

Reverend Joseph M. Corley, Pastor of Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, consented to Chair the committee beginning with the initial meeting in 2000.

The first Cluster session for the year 2000 was devoted to a recommitment to Cluster goals, especially to youth ministry and ways to aid cluster schools in their education ministry. Several parishes provide adult education programs as well as programs oriented toward children in grades 7 through 10. Plans were discussed to establish a "Cluster Corner" in each Cluster's parish bulletin so that parishioners will know what is going on throughout the Cluster. Daily Mass schedules and Lenten devotions for each parish are being published in this report.

Suggestions, comments, or questions about Cluster matters may be directed to your Pastor or to Reverend Thomas J. Smith, Vicar for Delaware County, at his office: 610-543-6759
