During the Spring, 2003, the Cluster Implementation Committee conducted an informal evaluation of the Cluster Pastoral Plan in consultation with the Parish Pastoral councils. The purpose of this informal evaluation was to determine the current status of the cluster plan. They considered the following questions:
1. What action(s) has (have) been taken to carry out the Cluster Pastoral Plan?
2. What action(s) still need(s) to be taken to meet the goal(s) of the Cluster Pastoral Plan?
3. To what degree has the vision of the Cluster Pastoral Plan been implemented?
4. Were any new needs discovered or new actions taken during the implementation of the Cluster Pastoral Plan?
5. What obstacles, if any, stood in the way of the implementation of the Cluster Pastoral Plan?
The committee found the following actions have been taken:
Attempts were made to organize youth activities on the cluster level but the members of the cluster came to the conclusion that this would be better carried out at the parish level.
Cluster efforts at evangelization have been good, especially with encouraging Disciples in Mission. The first cluster Ministry Day was successful, but the recent attempt to repeat it failed. Discussion is needed on timing and location for this effort.
The cluster-sponsored "food assistance" for the needy is scheduled to be implemented in September 2003.
The cluster goal of providing tuition scholarships for parish schools came to be seen as not realistic.
In general, the Cluster Pastoral Plan has been or is being achieved.
Actions that still need to be taken
include:
Communication among the cluster parishes needs to be enhanced especially regarding advertising of diverse events and programs being offered in the various parishes.
As part of the need to meet the social needs of the area, the cluster is actively working on setting up parish (five parishes) participation in the inter-faith housing program for the homeless.
Obstacles, that have stood in the
way of the implementation of the Cluster Pastoral Plan are:
Some efforts are hindered by distance between the parishes. Realistically, the sheer volume of things going on in the parishes limits and sometimes defines what is able to be done.
Status of the Plan
In light of the information collected, the Cluster Implementation Committee in consultation with Parish Pastoral Councils recommended to the Regional Vicar that the status of the plan be
To hold - implementation is complete, new data does not require a new cluster plan at this time.
