The
St. Clare-St. Peter
Steering Committee
Update
The joint St. Clare-St. Peter Steering Committee
for the future religious education center has met regularly for several months now to try and keep the project
moving at a swift pace. The purpose of this committee is to evaluate
the feasibility, viability, site locations, and many other issues regarding the project of building a shared parish school and religious
center. To clear up any misconceptions, the committee's purpose is
not to "move both churches
to a shared location" - that is another issue for the future; we are only concentrating on a combined "religious
education center" at this time.
It is being called a religious education center because
it will be much more than a kindergarten-through-eighth-grade school. It
will also have facilities for a nursery school, pre-K classes, CCD classes, Sunday school, and a meeting/social
center for youth groups, senior groups, missions, retreats, bible study, clubs, dinners, dances, athletics, theater/music
programs, scouting, and more!
This is an extensive process involving many tasks and responsibilities.
There will be several subcommittees for building design, education curriculum, communications, development
and recruitment, and a capital campaign coordination. So we are hoping
for more volunteers to help and assist wherever and however possible.
Our first tasks include analyzing the number of current and potential students, looking at the monies in hand and
the monies needed, as well as evaluating the potential site locations. Communicating
the progress to all parishioners throughout the process will remain a priority, including a
very important survey that will be designed and mailed to your
home in the near future - please take a moment to fill it out and return it.
You will continue to be informed with updates in your weekly church bulletins.
