Cuando oímos que participaríamos en un evento titulado Aviva
el Fuego, nosotros no estábamos realmente tan emocionados ante
la idea. Muchos de nosotros pensamos «...bien, pero...», porque
nosotros nunca habíamos asistido a tal evento. Cuando llegamos
al Archbishop Wood High School(Escuela Superior Archbishop Wood), el 19
de marzo, estábamos excitados y nerviosos al mismo tiempo —no
sabíamos qué esperar.
Tan pronto comenzó el evento, sin embargo, nuestra excitación
y entusiasmo aumentaron porque el ambiente era muy acogedor. No tuvimos
que preocuparnos por lo que sucedía afuera, todo lo que tuvimos
que hacer fue relajarnos y disfrutar de nuestro tiempo con Dios.
Nos encantó la música, y que había sesiones diferentes
a las que pudimos asistir y aprender algo nuevo acerca de Dios y cómo
la fe es vivida en el mundo, por ejemplo, en la sesión titulada
El sexo y la ciudad de Dios. Esta sesión nos mostró que
sexo es una palabra santa porque fue creado por Dios— pero suena
tan malo porque en el mundo actual todos lo despojan de su valor real
y lugar legítimo.
Lo que más disfrutamos fue la Hora Santa; la disfrutamos mucho,
y pensamos que fue estupenda. Otra parte de la reunión que nos
gustó realmente fue el sketch que los estudiantes representaron.
Pensé personalmente que fue muy bueno y me sentí feliz al
saber que el sketch fue escrito para mostrarnos cómo nosotros podemos
fácilmente apartarnos de Dios, pero que Dios siempre estará
allí con los brazos abiertos para nosotros, que todo lo que tenemos
que hacer es abrir nuestros brazos para Él también.
El Grupo de Juventud de la parroquia Visitación desea dar las gracias
a todos aquellos que prepararon tan maravilloso evento y por habernos
permitido ser parte de él.

Conferencia
carismática se celebrará 19 de Abril
KING OF PRUSSIA — Por primera vez en su historia, la 28ª conferencia
anual carismática católica de la arquidiócesis de
Filadelfia — que se celebrará desde las 8 a.m. a 7 p.m. el
sábado, 19 de abril, en el Centro de Convenciones de Valley Forge
— se llevará a cabo en dos idiomas: inglés y español.
La conferencia mirará con esperanza y fe hacia el futuro, tomando
el tema de un pasaje en el Libro de Isaías, que dice en parte:
«No recuerdes solamente los acontecimientos del pasado… [M]
ira, que estoy haciendo algo nuevo.»
El orador principal de la conferencia será el padre Bruce Nielli,
CSP, evangelista católico misionero, y un consultor del comité
especial sobre proselitismo entre los inmigrantes de la conferencia de
obispos de los E.E.U.U.
También la escritora Maria Vadia, autora de los libros, Al pulsar
en el Espíritu y Una flecha en su mano, hablará durante
la conferencia.
Fanning
the fires of faith in Hispanic youth

When we heard that we were going to go to an event named “Fan the
Fire,” we weren’t really excited about it. Many of us were
like, “okay, but ..,” because we have never been to such an
event. When we arrived at Archbishop Wood High School on March 29, we
were both nervous and excited — we had no idea what to expect.
As soon as the event started, however, our excitement and enthusiasm increased
because the atmosphere was so welcoming. We did not have to worry about
what was going on outside, all we had to do was relax and enjoy our time
with God.
We loved the music, and that there were different sessions that we were
able to attend and learn something new about God and how faith is lived
the world, for example, in the session titled, “Sex and the City
of God.” That session showed us that sex is a holy word because
it was created by God — but it sounds so wrong because in today’s
world everyone strips it of its real value and rightful place.
What we enjoyed the most was the Holy Hour. We enjoyed it a lot, and thought
it was great. Another part of the rally that we really liked was the skit
that the students performed. I personally thought it was great, and it
made me feel happy to know that the skit was written in order to show
us how we can easily pull away from God, but that God will always be there
for us with open arms, all we have to do is open our arms to Him, too.
The Youth Group of Visitation Parish would like to thank everyone for
preparing such a wonderful event and letting us be part of it.
