In the document on Evangelization: Go and Make Disciples, the United States Bishops tell us that the Church needs to: “Bring about in all Catholics such an enthusiasm for their faith that, in living their faith in Jesus, they freely share it with others.” (par. 89)

Too Few in the Pew is a booklet intended to help the pew Catholic reach out to their neighbors, friends, relatives and work associates who may be away from the Church or do not belong to any faith community. It is self-explanatory but works best if discussed in a group setting.

A couple of suggestions when going through the booklet with others:

• Pg. 2: review the information. Share if any have any comments or thoughts.
• Pg. 3: encourage people to actually write in names and reflect on how they will reach out to each person. Ask them to write their responses in the booklet and encourage everyone to do what they have written within the next two weeks.
• Page 4: talk about the Five Open Doors to Dialogue and share any experiences participants may have.
• Pages 5 and 6: role play “meeting someone new at Mass” and the “one liners”
