PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING TO CONDUCT THE ANNUAL SELF ASSESSMENT OF THE PASTORAL PLAN

Goal:  To continue to live out the mission of the parish.
Purpose:    To affirm or revise the Parish Pastoral Plan, deepen the
understanding and ownership of the current Pastoral Council and assess
 implementation efforts and effects.

 Preparation for this Meeting

The members of the Parish Pastoral Council should review the parish
mission statement, parish pastoral plan, and a brief report of all the
implementation actions for each parish plan goal.

 Sample Agenda

 1.  Prayer for courage and wisdom (15 minutes)

 2.  Assessment of implementation efforts (90  minutes)

  1. Who are we? As the Council begins, they review the current Parish Mission Statement.
  2. Who are we called to be?  The Council seeks the answer to this question in the context of the Gospel and Church Teaching.
  3. Where have we been?  As the Council reviews the actions taken, they should ask:
    • What have we done this year to accomplish the goals of our current parish pastoral plan?  (This corresponds to item 121B of the Annual Pastoral Report)
    • What did we discover? What surprises were revealed in the implementation reports?
    • What are the effects of the recommendations that were implemented?
    • Are these effects contributing to the fulfillment of the parish mission?  In what way?
    • How has any delay in the implementation of our recommendations affected our parish?
    • What (if any) barriers to implementation were reported by implementors?
    • What can we learn from these experiences?
    • Has the cluster plan affected our parish plan in any way?   How?
  1. Where are we going? As the council plans for the upcoming year, they should ask:
      • What changes have occurred in the parish and the surrounding community that may impact the implementation of the Parish Pastoral Plan?
      • Does the plan reflect our mission statement?
      • What (if any) new or revised goals need to be set in light of the parish mission statement and what we have discovered at this meeting?  (This corresponds to item 121A of the Annual Pastoral Report)
  2. How do we get there?

 3.  Closing prayer
