CARDINAL BEVILACQUA TO CELEBRATE MASS FOR LIFE

Mass marks 26th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade Decision

Anthony Cardinal Bevilacqua, Archbishop of Philadelphia, will celebrate the Archdiocese of Philadelphia's annual Mass for Life. People from throughout the Archdiocese will attend the mass, which marks the 26th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion.

Attendees will include Archdiocesan school students who are part of the "Spiritual Adoption Program," in which students "adopt" an unborn child, and pray for the child to be born. The theme of this year's Mass for Life will be "Live the Father's Love." Music will be provided by the Archdiocesan Boys Choir.

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia will have a role in other pro-life events marking the anniversary of the legalization of abortion. On Friday, January 22, 1999, a delegation of more than 6000 people from the Archdiocese will take part in the 26th annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. On Monday, January 25, 1999, Norma McCorvey, who was Jane Roe in the infamous 1973 Supreme Court case legalizing abortion, will be a guest on Live with Cardinal Bevilacqua, Cardinal Bevilacqua's weekly radio show on WZZD-AM 990.
