Father Welsh attended Visitation B.V.M. School, Trooper, and Bishop Kenrick High School, Norristown, before entering St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood.

Concelebrants are Reverend Reverend Anthony Dieckhaus, Reverend Joseph Dieckhaus and Reverend Daniel Donovan, C.M. The homilist is Reverend Vincent F. Welsh.
There are ten men in the Class of 2000. At the end of May, each of the newly ordained priests will be assigned to a parish in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia where they will serve as parochial vicars. A parochial vicar is a priest appointed by the Cardinal to assist the pastor of a parish.
