The Annual Gala, BLOCS' main event, has raised $2.6 million for the Catholic Schools since 1998. Funds raised by BLOCS have helped 5,000 students through tuition assistance, special project grants and equipment. Nearly 40% of the students attending the elementary and secondary schools in the inner city are not Catholic and 75% are minorities.
The program will include a lively dance presentation by the "Ambassadors for Christ," a dance ensemble composed of students from inner city schools who are recipients of BLOCS grants. There will also be songs by the Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast High School Theater Groups, and a medley of songs performed by the Father Judge High School Jazz Ensemble.
BLOCS Chairman David F. Girard-diCarlo, Esquire, is managing partner of Blank, Rome, Comisky & McCauley. BLOC relies upon the support of individuals, businesses and foundations to financially assist families in need regardless of race, color, creed, national or ethnic origin.
