OVER 2,000 EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 9th ANNUAL MOTHER'S DAY MAY PROCESSION

Celebrate Motherhood


On Mother's Day, approximately 2,000 participants are expected to join the ninth annual May Procession and Prayer Service at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia. May is the month designated to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary. Participants will recite the rosary in a procession outside of the Cathedral. During the prayer service the May Queen will crown a statue of Mary inside of the Cathedral.

The May Procession homilist is Monsignor John A. Close, Rector of the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. The St. Philip Neri Parish Children's Choir will provide music. The 2005 May Queen is Maryellen Nerz-Stormes, Ph.D. Dr. Nerz-Stormes and her court were chosen through an essay campaign entitled Why My Mom Should Be May Queen.
