Augustus C. Puleo to be Ordained to the Priesthood


The Rev. Mr. Augustus Charles Puleo, 52, son of Anna E. and the late Louis J. Puleo, will be ordained to the priesthood by Cardinal Justin Rigali on

A member of Holy Savior Parish, Norristown, Father Puleo attended Marshall Street School, Stewart Junior High School and A.D. Eisenhower High School in Norristown. He studied Spanish and linguistics at Georgetown University, Middlebury College and the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a Ph.D. in Spanish. He taught Spanish at Columbia University, New York, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood. He currently serves as a deacon at Saint William Parish, Philadelphia.

The homilist is Reverend Monsignor Nelson Perez. The deacons are Rev. Mr. Christopher Cooke and Rev. Br. William Arlia. Concelebrants include Reverend Monsignor John Marine, Reverend Monsignor Daniel Sullivan, Reverend Charles Sangermano and Reverend Louis Bellopede.

There are five men in the Class of 2005. At the end of May, each of the newly ordained priests will be assigned to a parish in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia where they will serve as parochial vicars. A parochial vicar is a priest appointed by the Cardinal to assist the pastor of a parish.
