Archbishop Pietro Sambi, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, visits
Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary

Cardinal Justin Rigali, Archbishop of Philadelphia, will preside at Mass while Archbishop Pietro Sambi will be the principal celebrant and homilist.

In the Catholic Church, an Apostolic Nuncio is the personal representative of the Holy Father to the Church in a particular nation; at the same time he is the Ambassador of the Holy See to that country or to an international organization. Archbishop Sambi is only the second Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, the office having been elevated to enjoy full ambassadorial rank and privileges in 1998.
