REVEREND EDWARD H. KOOB
1919 - 2008


Reverend Edward H. Koob, Pastor Emeritus, Saint Robert Parish, Chester, died of Carcinoma of the Colon at Villa Saint Joseph, Darby, on Wednesday, April 16, 2008.

Father Koob was born on February 11, 1919, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Charles Koob and the late Isabel Erhard. Father Koob attended Saint Gregory Parochial School, Philadelphia, and West Philadelphia Catholic High School, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Koob was ordained on December 15, 1945, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend Hugh L. Lamb. Father Koob served as Parochial Vicar at Saints Simon and Jude Parish, Bethlehem; Saint Barbara Parish, Philadelphia; Our Lady of Grace Parish, Penndel; Saint John the Evangelist Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Martin of Tours Parish, Philadelphia; Saint John Chrysostom Parish, Wallingford; Visitation B.V.M. Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Callistus Parish, Philadelphia; Transfiguration of Our Lord Parish, Philadelphia; and Incarnation of Our Lord Parish, Philadelphia. Father Koob served as Pastor, Immaculate Conception Parish, Philadelphia, from 1974 to 1981. In June 1981, he was appointed Pastor, Saint Robert Parish, Chester, and named Pastor Emeritus there in 1992.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by His Eminence Cardinal Justin Rigali at Saint Katharine Drexel Church, Chester, on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held at the Church beginning at 9:00 AM. Assisting at the altar will be Reverend Monsignor James J. Graham, Reverend Robert C. Vogan, and Reverend Monsignor Richard J. Wright. Monsignor Graham will be the homilist.

Father Koob is preceded in death by his brother, Charles H. Koob, and his sister, Sister Charles Isabel Koob, S.S.J. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken.
