SAINT CHARLES BORROMEO SEMINARY COMMUNITY TO MAKE PILGRIMAGE TO QUEBEC, CANADA FOR THE 49TH INTERNATIONAL EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS

Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary will send five priests and twenty-six seminarians, twenty-three from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, to Quebec, Canada for the 49th International Eucharistic Congress on Monday, June 16, 2008 at 7:30 a.m. The group is expected to arrive in Montreal in the early evening, where they will celebrate Mass at St. Joseph Oratory. Following the celebration, they will then travel Quebec City for the week-long event. This Congress will be celebrated during the year marking the 400th Anniversary of foundation of Quebec City, seat of the first Catholic Diocese north of Mexico.

An International Eucharistic Congress is a gathering of the universal Church, in order to celebrate Jesus living and present in the Eucharist, the source and summit of evangelization and center of the life of the Church. The Congress pilgrims will gather for a week of celebrations from June 15 to 22, 2008, at the "Eucharistic City" (ExpoCité) where most of the Congress events will take place. The theme of the Congress is "The Eucharist, gift of God for the life of the world," and a rich variety of activities will help pilgrims to embrace this theme through solemn liturgies, catechesis, special activities for youth and families, and various artistic and cultural events.
