DEACON JOHN PARKER III

1934 - 2008


Deacon John Parker III, Permanent Deacon, Holy Saviour Parish, Norristown, died on Monday, December 1, 2008.

Deacon Parker was born on July 2, 1934, in West Chester, Pennsylvania. He attended Harrity Elementary School and Dobbins Vocational-Technical School in Philadelphia. He also took classes at Villanova University.

Deacon Parker was ordained on May 23, 1993, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by His Excellency, Most Reverend Louis A. DeSimone. Deacon Parker has been assigned to Holy Saviour Parish, Norristown, since his ordination.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2008, from 8:30 AM to 10:.00 AM, at Holy Saviour Church, 409 East Main Street, Norristown. In the absence of Cardinal Rigali, Most Reverend Daniel E. Thomas will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Deacon Parker at Holy Saviour Church, Norristown, on Saturday, December 6, 2008, at 10:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Monsignor Charles L. Sangermano and Reverend James P. Olson. Monsignor Sangermano will be the homilist.

Deacon Parker is survived by his wife, Peggy, three children, John IV, Marlene, and Christopher and five grandchildren. Interment will be at Saint Patrick Cemetery, East Norriton.
