RICHARD SMITH TO BE ORDAINED TO THE PRIESTHOOD

A native of Philadelphia, Rev. Mr. Smith has been serving as deacon at Mother of Divine Providence Parish, King of Prussia, Montgomery County. He attended Saint Matthias Parish School in Bala Cynwyd, PA and Roman Catholic High School (2001), Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood. Mr. Smith earned a Bachelor of Arts (2005) and Master of Divinity (2008) degree at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

The homilist is Reverend Ronald Jakows. The deacons are Deacon Gaspero Baratta and Deacon Mark Dillon. Concelebrants include Reverend Monsignor John Conway; Reverend Ronald Jakows; Reverend James Lyons; and Reverend Robert Pesarchick.
There are six Archdiocese of Philadelphia men in the Class of 2009. At the end of May, each of the newly ordained priests will be assigned to an Archdiocesan parish where they will serve as parochial vicars. A parochial vicar is a priest appointed by the Cardinal to assist the pastor of a parish.
