REVEREND ROBERT H. ROEDEL

1928 - 2009


Reverend Robert H. Roedel, Retired and Resident, Saint John Neumann Nursing Home, Philadelphia, died on Sunday, April 5, 2009.

Father Roedel was born on August 18, 1928, in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Arthur Roedel and the late Marie Eddinger. Father Roedel attended Sacred Heart Grade School, Allentown, and Allentown Central Catholic High School before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Roedel was ordained on May 10, 1956, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend John F. O'Hara. Father Roedel served as Parochial Vicar, Saint Mauritius Parish, Ashland; Saint Anthony of Padua Parish, Easton; Annunciation Parish, Shenandoah; Saint Margaret Parish, Reading; Saint Aloysius Parish, Pottstown; Holy Trinity Parish, Morrisville; Visitation B.V.M. Parish, Philadelphia; All Saints Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Joseph Parish, Aston; Saint Clement Parish, Philadelphia; and Assumption B.V.M. Parish, Feasterville.

The service of the transfer of the Body will be held at Assumption B.V.M. Church, Feasterville, on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at 9:30 am, followed by a viewing. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by His Eminence Cardinal Justin Rigali at Assumption B.V.M. Church, Feasterville, on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at 11:00 am. Assisting at the altar will be Reverend Daniel P. Devine, Reverend Monsignor James P. McBride, Reverend William F. McGeown, and Reverend Monsignor Timothy C. Senior. Monsignor McBride will be the homilist.

Father Roedel is survived by his niece, Ruth Miller ( Dennis), his nephew, Edward Roedel Jr., and his grand-niece Kyle Miller. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Allentown.
