REVEREND THOMAS D. HOMA

1930 - 2009


Reverend Thomas D. Homa, Pastor Emeritus, Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Bensalem, died of T-cell Lymphoma at Saint Francis Country House, Darby on Wednesday, September 16, 2009.

Father Homa was born on June 26, 1930, in Arnouts Addition, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late John Homa and the late Catherine Sierokowski. Before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary Father Homa attended Saint Mary Parochial School, Saint Clair; Resurrection of Our Lord Parochial School, Chester; and Saint James Catholic High School, Philadelphia,

Father Homa was ordained on May 11, 1957, at Immaculate Conception Church, Germantown, by Most Reverend John F. O'Hara. Father Homa served as Parochial Vicar at Immaculate Conception Parish, Tremont; Saint Ignatius Parish, Yardley; Saint Agnes Parish, West Chester; Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Southampton; Saint Hugh of Cluny Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Joseph Parish, Collingdale; Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Warminster; and Saint Dominic Parish, Philadelphia. Father Homa served as Parochial Administrator at Our Lady of Fatima Parish from June 1985 through June 1987 when he was appointed Pastor of the parish. Father Homa was named Pastor Emeritus there in June 2005.

The service of the Transfer of the Body will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bensalem, on Sunday, September 20, 2009, at 4:00 PM, followed by a viewing. A Mass will be celebrated at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by His Eminence Cardinal Justin Rigali at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bensalem, on Monday, September 21, 2009, at 11:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend John J. Ames, Reverend Thomas P. Gallagher, O.S.F.S., Reverend Monsignor James T. McDonough, and Reverend Monsignor William J. O'Donnell. Father Ames will be the homilist.

Father Homa is survived by his sisters, Eleanor Homa and Dorothy (Thomas) Ward, his brothers, John Homa, Jr. and Edward Homa, and nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, Linwood.
