REVEREND ROBERT P. LEPLEITER

1930 - 2009


Reverend Robert P. Lepleiter, Retired and Resident, Villa Saint Joseph, Darby, died of end stage cardiac disease at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, Darby, on October 21, 2009.

Father Lepleiter was born on February 16, 1930, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Robert Peter Lepleiter and the late Marguerite A. Lynch. Father Lepleiter attended Saint Hubert Parochial School and Northeast Public High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Lepleiter was ordained on May 18, 1963, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend John J. Krol. Father Lepleiter served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Henry Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Joseph Parish, Aston; Saint Dominic Parish, Philadelphia; Our Lady of Ransom Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Anselm Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Helena Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish, Warrington; and Holy Angels Parish, Philadelphia. Father Lepleiter also served as Pastor, Saint Jerome Parish, Philadelphia, from 1988 through 1990.

The service of the Transfer of the Body will be held at Saint Jude Church, Chalfont, on Monday, October 26, 2009, at 4:00 PM, followed by a viewing. A Parish Mass will be celebrated at 7:00 PM. His Eminence Cardinal Justin Rigali will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father Lepleiter at Saint Jude Church, Chalfont, on Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held beginning at 9:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Joseph N. Accardi, Reverend Monsignor James P. McCoy, Reverend Monsignor Daniel J. Sullivan and Reverend Henry C. Graf. Father Accardi will be the homilist.

Father Lepleiter is survived by his sister, Marguerite Young. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.
