Approximately 1,000 people are expected attend

Cardinal Justin Rigali, Archbishop of Philadelphia, will be the celebrant and homilist at the annual Mass for Persons with Disabilities. Mass is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Department of Pastoral Care for Persons with Disabilities, which together with Parishes and affiliated church organizations, is committed in the effort to raise awareness and create access for people with disabilities in the life of the Church.

The Divine Providence Village Bell Choir, which is composed of woman with intellectual developmental disabilities will be the featured guest choir performing at the prelude of the Mass. The One Flock Choir, which is made up entirely of students from Archdiocesan Special Education School will sing the Hymn of Praise after Communion and the Villanova University Pastoral Music Choir will provide the liturgical music. Volunteers from area Catholic youth groups and Archdiocesan High Schools will be on hand to assist in accommodating individuals with disabilities. Participation is encouraged among individuals with disabilities, their families, friends, neighbors and caregivers. All are welcome to attend.

A reception will be held immediately following Mass in the Archdiocesan Office Center at 222 North 17th Street. The Nevilaires Choir, consisting of individuals who are blind, will provide musical entertainment for the reception.
