DON GUANELLA VILLAGE CELEBRATES 50TH ANNIVERSARY

The Most Reverend Robert P. Maginnis, Retired Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia, will be the principal celebrant and homilist, at a Mass celebrating the 50th anniversary of Don Guanella Village. Bishop Maginnis will be joined by Superior General Father Alfonso Crippa, SdC and Father Luigi De Giambattista, SdC as well as a number of priests from the Servants of Charity. During Mass residents will serve as altar servers and gift bearers during the Offertory.

Don Guanella Village is made up of residents from the Cardinal Krol Center and Don Guanella School. Don Guanella School is a facility operated by Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in Springfield, Delaware County, for boys with a wide variety of disabilities ranging in age from six to 21.

A luncheon will follow Mass and will include live entertainment. Chris Burke, a graduate of Don Guanella School, who appeared in the television show Life Goes On, will perform with Charlie Gracie and residents of the school. In addition to the live music there will be various games and activities taking place both outdoors and inside the Don Guanella gym.
