Reverend Thomas F. Doyle, Pastor Emeritus, Sacred Heart Parish, Royersford and Resident of Villa Saint Joseph, Darby, died at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, Darby, on December 9, 2010.
Father Doyle was born on January 19, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Joseph Doyle and the late Margaret Corcoran. Father Doyle attended Transfiguration of Our Lord Parochial School and West Catholic High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Father Doyle was ordained on May 21, 1966, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend John J. Krol. Father Doyle served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Anastasia Parish, Newtown Square; Saint Laurence Parish, Upper Darby; and Saint Bernadette Parish, Drexel Hill. He also served on the Faculty of Saint John Neumann High School, Philadelphia, and Bishop Shanahan High School, Downingtown. Father Doyle was appointed Pastor, Saint Cecelia Parish, Coatesville, in 1981 and served there until 1990. In June 1990 he was appointed Pastor, Sacred Heart Parish, Royersford. He was appointed Pastor Emeritus there in June 2007. He also served as Senior Priest, Saint Katharine of Siena Parish, Wayne.
The service of the Transfer of the Body will be held at, Sacred Heart Church, Royersford, on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 4:00 PM, followed by a viewing, and Parish Mass at 7:00 PM. Most Reverend Daniel E. Thomas will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father Doyle at Sacred Heart Church, Royersford, on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held beginning at 9:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend James J. Ambrogi, Reverend Daniel P. Devine, Reverend Monsignor Donald E. Leighton, and Reverend John F. McBride. Reverend Monsignor Michael C. Picard will be the homilist.
Father Doyle is survived by his four sisters, Marijane Weir, Rosemary Johnson, Nancy Johnson and Kathleen Hahn, and a brother, Joseph. Interment will be in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
