REVEREND RONALD M. JAKOWS

1964 - 2011


Reverend Ronald M. Jakows, Pastor, Annunciation B.V.M. Parish, Philadelphia, died of a myocardial infarction at Annunciation B.V.M. Rectory, on Wednesday, February 2, 2011.

Father Jakows was born on November 28, 1964, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Raymond M. Jakows and Irene N. Kirland. Father Jakows attended Saint Josaphat Parochial School, Philadelphia, and Roman Catholic High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Jakows was ordained on May 19, 1990, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend Anthony J. Bevilacqua. Father Jakows served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Adalbert Parish, Philadelphia, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Doylestown. He also served as a member of the Faculty, Roman Catholic High School, Philadelphia, and School Minister and President at Saints John Neumann-Maria Goretti Catholic High School, Philadelphia. In July 2010 Father Jakows was appointed Pastor, Annunciation B.V.M. Parish, Philadelphia.

The Reception of the Body will be held at Annunciation B.V.M. Church, Philadelphia, on Sunday, February 6, 2011, at 3:00 PM, followed by a viewing. A parish Mass will be celebrated at 5:00 PM. His Eminence Cardinal Justin Rigali will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father Jakows at Annunciation B.V.M. Church, Philadelphia, on Monday, February 7, 2011, at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held beginning at 9:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Joseph N. Accardi, Reverend Gary T. Pacitti, Reverend Richard J. Smith, and Reverend Francis P. Straka, Diocese of Allentown. Father Pacitti will be the homilist.

Father Jakows is survived by his mother, Irene, his brother, Gregory, and two nieces. Interment will be at Westminster Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd.
