A native of Furlong, PA. Rev. Mr. Friel has been serving as deacon at Saint Anthony of Padua, Ambler, Montgomery County. He attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Elementary School (1999) Doylestown; Archbishop Wood High School (2003) Warminster; and earned his Bachelor of Arts ( 2007), Master of Divinity (2010) and Master of Arts (2011) at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

The homilist is Reverend Patrick J. Welsh. Concelebrants include Reverend Monsignor Charles H. Hagan; Reverend Monsignor Stephen P. McHenry; Reverend Monsignor Joseph G. Prior; and Reverend Charles Zlock. The deacons are Rev. Mr. Brian Wayne and Deacon George V. Corwell.
There are three men from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in the Class of 2011. At the end of May, each of the newly ordained priests will be assigned to an Archdiocesan parish where they will serve as parochial vicars. A parochial vicar is a priest appointed by the Cardinal to assist the pastor of a parish.
