Nutritional Development Services (NDS), of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, will be hosting its annual Millionth Meal celebration. There will be 45 children participating who benefit from the NDS Summer Meals Program. During the Millionth Meal celebration children will be provided with a back to school gift kindly donated by Wal-Mart. One child will be chosen to symbolize the one millionth meal given out this Summer and will be provided with a backpack full of school supplies and a $25 Wal-Mart gift card. Wal-mart Director of Operations Amy Corso will be on hand to help mark the millionth meal served this Summer.

Over the 35 years that Nutritional Development Services has been in existence the Program has provided a source that benefits families, agencies, and churches in Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs with zero regards to religious affiliation. NDS has been proud to partner with Pinn Memorial Baptist church for the past 20 years. The Wal-Mart Foundation made a $220,000 donation to Nutritional Development Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to help drive awareness of the Summer Meals Program for students and families
in the Philadelphia area this year.

The Summer Meals Program is federally funded, operated nationally by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This year the Program will run from June 20th through August 26th. Participating sites offer children lunch and a choice of breakfast or snack. Most Philadelphia and many suburban neighborhoods qualify for the Program.
