Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. will be the celebrant and homilist at the annual World Mission Sunday Mass. This Mass celebrates and supports the vital work of mission churches throughout the world.

On World Mission Sunday, Catholics worldwide unite in Word and Sacrament to celebrate Jesus. They pray for the Church's missionary work, and give generously to the Pontifical Mission Society for the Propagation of the Faith. Catholics in the United States are the largest supporters of the daily work and service that takes place in the 1,150 mission dioceses and territories around the world, which cover two-thirds of the globe.

Through the generosity of it faithful, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia provided $3, 915,179 to the Pontifical Mission Societies in 2010.

The Mass will also be attended by representatives from a variety of Religious Missionary organizations: Sacred Heart Missionaries, Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Father Chuck's Challenge, Food for the Poor and seminarians from Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
