Reverend James R. Bajorek, former Pastor, Saint John Chrysostom Parish, Wallingford, died on Tuesday, April 3, 2012.
Father Bajorek was born on March 21, 1954, in Homewood, Illinois. He is the son of the late Robert Bajorek and LaVerne Czapiewski. Father Bajorek attended Holy Cross Parochial School, Euclid, Ohio, and Saint Joseph High School, Cleveland, Ohio, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Father Bajorek was ordained on May 17, 1980, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by His Eminence John Cardinal Krol. Father Bajorek served as Parochial Vicar at Holy Martyrs Parish, Oreland, and Our Lady of Hope Parish, Philadelphia. Father Bajorek served on the Faculty at Saint James High School, Chester. He also served as Director of Spiritual Formation, College Division, Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, from 1987 through 1997. Father Bajorek served as Pastor at Saint Carthage Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Ignatius of Loyola Parish, Philadelphia; Our Mother of Sorrows Parish, Philadelphia; and Saint John Chrysostom Parish, Wallingford.
The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint John Chrysostom Church, Wallingford, on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at 4:00 PM, followed by a viewing. A parish Mass will be celebrated at 7:00 PM. Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father Bajorek at Saint John Chrysostom Church, on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at 2:00 PM. A viewing will begin at Noon. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Stephen J. Dougherty, Reverend Monsignor Thomas M. Mullin, Reverend Peter J. Welsh, Reverend J. Jerome Wild, and
Reverend Karl A. Zeuner. Father Dougherty will be the homilist.
Father Bajorek is survived by his mother, LaVerne, his brother, Michael and his sister Patti Kettle. Interment will be at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
