Reverend Connell J. Maguire, Retired, Resident, Riviera Beach, Florida, died at Good Samaritan Hospital, Palm Beach, Florida, on Thursday, April 12, 2012.

Father Maguire was born on March 10, 1918, in Ireland, and moved to Philadelphia in 1929. He is the son of the late Bernard Maguire and the late Catherine Gallagher. Father Maguire attended Holy Cross Parochial School, Philadelphia, Northeast Catholic High School, Philadelphia; and LaSalle College, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Maguire was ordained on February 24, 1945, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend Hugh L. Lamb. Father Maguire served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Elizabeth Parish, Pen Argyl, and Saint Mary of Eternal Parish, Philadelphia. Father Maguire also served as Chaplain in the United States Navy from 1952 through 1978.

The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Luke the Evangelist Church, Glenside, on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 2012, at 11:30 AM, followed by a viewing. Most Reverend John J. McIntyre will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father Maguire at Saint Luke the Evangelist Church, Glenside, on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at 2:00 PM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Dominic M. Chiaravalle and Reverend Edward A. Hamilton, Diocese of Orlando. Father Chiaravalle will be the homilist.

Father Maguire is survived by his brothers, Bernard and Daniel, his sisters, Kathleen Lindh and Teresa Duff and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia.
