REVEREND HARRY A. ROMANO

1928 - 2012


Reverend Harry A. Romano, Pastor Emeritus, Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Coatesville, Resident, Villa Saint Joseph, Darby, died at Villa Saint Joseph, Darby, on Monday, October 1, 2012.

Father Romano was born on June 6, 1928, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Ignazio Romano and the late Rose DiTollo. Father Romano attended Thomas J. Powers Public School, Jones Junior High School, and Northeast Public High School, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Romano was ordained on May 11, 1957, at Immaculate Conception Church, Germantown, by Most Reverend John F. O’Hara, C.S.C. Father Romano served as Parochial Vicar at Immaculate Conception Parish, Kelayres; Saint Mary Magdalen De Pazzi Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Michael the Archangel Parish, Levittown; and Holy Cross Parish, Springfield. He also served on the faculty at Cardinal Dougherty High School, Philadelphia, from 1957 through 1971. Father Romano served as Pastor at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Coatesville, from 1976 through 2003, when he was named Pastor Emeritus.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, on October 6, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Monsignor James McDonough, Reverend Monsignor Ignatius Murray, Reverend Thomas Brennan, Reverend John Ferrence, O.S.A., and Reverend John Fitzgerald. Monsignor McDonough will be the homilist.

Father Romano is survived by his sister-in laws, Dolores Romano and Helen Romano, and nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Saint Dominic Cemetery, Philadelphia.
