REVEREND MONSIGNOR JOHN B. WENDRYCHOWICZ

1947 - 2012


Reverend Monsignor John B. Wendrychowicz, Pastor, Saint Agnes Parish, Sellersville, died at Villa Saint Joseph, Darby, on Thursday, December 20, 2012.

Monsignor Wendrychowicz was born on June 20, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late John B. Wendrychowicz and the late Rita Shepherd. Monsignor Wendrychowicz attended Visitation B.V.M. Parochial School, Philadelphia, Saint George Parochial School, Philadelphia, and Northeast Catholic High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Monsignor Wendrychowicz was ordained on May 19, 1973, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by His Eminences John Cardinal Krol, and named Chaplain to His Holiness Pope John Paul II on March 24, 2003. Monsignor Wendrychowicz served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Ladislaus Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Josaphat Parish, Philadelphia; Saint John Cantius Parish, Philadelphia; and Saint Katharine Drexel Parish, Chester. He also served on the Faculty at Archbishop Kennedy High School, Conshohocken, and Saint Hubert High School, Philadelphia. He served as Chaplain at Little Flower High School, Philadelphia, and School Minister, Cardinal Dougherty High School, Philadelphia. Monsignor Wendrychowicz served as Pastor at Saint Josaphat Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Ladislaus Parish, Philadelphia; and Saint Agnes Parish, Sellersville. Monsignor Wendrychowicz also served as Archdiocesan Director and Chaplain for the Catholic Committee on Scouting since October 1992.

The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Agnes Church, Sellersville, on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at 4:00 P.M., followed by a viewing. A parish Mass will be celebrated at 7:00 P.M. Most Reverend Joseph R. Cistone will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Monsignor Wendrychowicz at Saint Agnes Church, Sellersville, on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held beginning at 9:00 A.M. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend John F. Babowitch, Reverend Michael S. Olivere, Reverend Michael J. Reilly, and Reverend Monsignor Richard J. Skelly. Bishop Cistone will be the homilist.

Monsignor Wendrychowicz is survived by his brothers, David (Anna Marie) and Joseph (Pamela), his sister, Rita (Curt) Raddatz, and his nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken.
