Reverend Stephen J. Dougherty, Faculty, Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Resident, Saint Margaret Parish, Narberth, died at Villa Saint Joseph, Darby, on Saturday, January 5, 2013.

Father Dougherty was born on March 20, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Francis J. Dougherty and the late Mary Carr. Father Dougherty attended Saint Francis of Assisi Parochial School, Philadelphia, and Northeast Catholic High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Dougherty was ordained on May 19, 1973, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by His Eminence John Cardinal Krol. Father Dougherty served as Parochial Vicar at Stella Maris Parish, Philadelphia; Immaculate Heat of Mary Parish, Philadelphia; Our Lady of Ransom Parish, Philadelphia; and Mater Dolorosa Parish, Philadelphia. Father Dougherty also served as a member of the Faculty at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Margaret Church, Narberth, on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at 4:00 PM, followed by a viewing. A parish Mass will be celebrated at 7:00 PM.
Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father Dougherty at Saint Martin Chapel, Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, on Monday, January 14, 2013, at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held beginning at 9:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Monsignor J. Brian Bransfield, Reverend Robert J. Chapman, Reverend Monsignor Joseph P. Garvin, and Reverend Patrick J. Welsh. Monsignor Bransfield will be the homilist.

Father Dougherty is survived by his sisters; Sr. Julia Dougherty, S.S.J. and Sr. Margaret Mary Dougherty, S.S.J. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia.
