PERMANENT DEACON JOSEPH P. COYLE

1929 - 2013


Deacon Joseph P. Coyle, retired, died on Tuesday, October 1, 2013.

Deacon Coyle was born on March 29, 1929, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended Our Mother of Sorrows Parochial School, Saint Rose of Lima Parochial School and Saint Thomas More High School, Philadelphia. He also attended Saint Joseph's University.

Deacon Coyle was ordained a permanent deacon on June 7, 1992, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend Louis A. DeSimone. He served as Permanent Deacon at Saint Alice Parish, Upper Darby, from 1992 through 2005.

A viewing will be held on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Saint Kevin Church, Springfield from 5:00 - 7:00PM. A viewing will also be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013, beginning at 9:30AM. Most Reverend Robert P. Maginnis will celebrate Deacon Coyle's Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Thomas P. Gillin. The Deacons of the Mass will be Deacon Charles A. Pavonarius and Deacon E. Peter Zurbach. Father Gillin will be the homilist.

Deacon Coyle is survived by his wife, Helen, four sons, three daughters, fifteen grandchildren, one sister, and four sisters-in-law. Interment will be at Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
