Reverend James P. McKelvey, Chaplain, Camilla Hall, Immaculata, died on Tuesday, October 8, 2013.
Father McKelvey was born on September 22, 1950, in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Raymond McKelvey and the late Pearl Hughes. Father McKelvey attended Saint Mary of the Assumption Parochial School, Phoenixville, Bishop Kenrick High School, Norristown, Phoenixville High School, and Gwynedd Mercy College, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Father McKelvey was ordained on May 15, 1993, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by His Eminence Anthony Cardinal Bevilacqua. Father McKelvey served as Parochial Vicar at Our Lady of Calvary Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Eleanor Parish, Collegeville; Saint Ann Parish, Phoenixville; and Saint Anastasia Parish, Newtown Square. In May 2008, he was appointed Chaplain at Camilla Hall.
The Reception of the Body will be held at Camilla Hall, on Sunday, October 13, 2013, at 3:00 PM, followed by a viewing and Mass at 5:00 PM. Most Reverend John J. McIntyre will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father McKelvey at Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, Phoenixville, on Monday, October 14, 2013, at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held beginning at 9:000 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Thomas J. Brennan, Reverend Monsignor Philip J. Cribben, Reverend Joseph C. Dieckhaus, and Reverend Jeffrey M. Stecz. Father Brennan will be the homilist.
Father McKelvey is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Interment will be at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Phoenixville.
