Reverend Monsignor Anthony E. Jaworowski, Pastor Emeritus, Saint Adalbert Parish, Philadelphia, died at Saint Francis Country House, Darby, on Saturday, February 22, 2014.
Monsignor Jaworowski was born on April 18, 1917, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Augustine Jaworowski and the late Katherine Bongard. Monsignor Jaworowski attended Saint Josaphat Parochial School, Philadelphia, and Saint John's High School, Manayunk, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Monsignor Jaworowski was ordained on June 3, 1944, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend Hugh L. Lamb, and named Honorary Prelate to his Holiness Pope John Paul VI on January 18, 1976. Monsignor Jaworowski served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Anthony Padua Parish, Cumbola; Saint Hedwig Parish, Chester; Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish, Coaldale; and Saint Casimir Parish, Shenandoah. Monsignor Jaworowski also served on the faculty at Saint Pius X High School, Pottstown. Monsignor Jaworowski was appointed Pastor, Sacred Heart Parish, Clifton Heights, in 1971. In October 1972, Monsignor Jaworowski was appointed Pastor, Saint Adalbert Parish, Philadelphia, and named Pastor Emeritus in June 1994.
The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Francis Country House, Darby, on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at 8:30 AM, followed by a viewing. Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Monsignor Jaworowski at Saint Francis Country House, on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at 10:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Monsignor Albin J. Grous, Reverend Edward P. Kuczynski, and Reverend Joseph J. Zingaro. Father Zingaro will be the homilist.
Monsignor Jaworowski is survived by his sister, Veronica Gromelski, and many nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Westminster Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd.
