Reverend Thomas M. Feeney, Retired, died at Villa Saint Joseph, Darby, on Monday, May 19, 2014.
Father Feeney was born on November 1, 1919, in Minersville, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Frank Feeney and the late Mary Donahue. Father Feeney attended Saint Vincent de Paul Parochial School, Minersville, Minersville High School, and Penn State College, Pottsville, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Father Feeney was ordained on May 22, 1948, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend J. Carroll McCormick. Father Feeney attended Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., from 1948 to 1951, earning his J.C.D. degree. He served as Chaplain at the Catholic Home in Marple, and as Parochial Vicar, Saint John the Evangelist Parish, Philadelphia. Father Feeney served on the Faculty at Roman Catholic High School, Philadelphia, and on the Faculty at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Overbrook. Father Feeney also served as Assistant Rector, Saint Joseph-in-the-Hills Retreat House, Malvern. Father Feeney retired from active ministry in 1995.
The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Francis Country House, Darby, on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at 8:30 AM, followed by a viewing. Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father Feeney at Saint Francis Country House, on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at 10:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Monsignor William A. Dombrow and Reverend Monsignor Daniel J. Sullivan. Monsignor Dombrow will be the homilist.
Father Feeney is survived by his nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon.
