Reverend James J. McLaughlin, Retired, Resident, Saint Mary's Manor, Lansdale, died on Thursday, June 26, 2014.

Father McLaughlin was born on September 17, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late James McLaughlin and the late Grace Gallagher. Father McLaughlin attended Holy Child Parochial School, Philadelphia and Cardinal Dougherty High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father McLaughlin was ordained on May 16, 1970, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by His Eminence John Cardinal Krol. Father McLaughlin served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Joseph the Worker Parish, Fallsington; Saint Eleanor Parish, Collegeville; Saint Barnabas Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Jerome Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Matthew Parish, Philadelphia; and Corpus Christi Parish, Lansdale. Father McLaughlin served on the Faculty at Roman Catholic High School, Philadelphia; Lansdale Catholic High School, Lansdale; and Cardinal Dougherty High School, Philadelphia. Father McLaughlin also served as Military Chaplain in the United States Navy from 1982 to 1986. Father McLaughlin retired from active ministry in 2010.

A Viewing will be held at Corpus Christi Parish, Lansdale, on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Most Reverend Michael J. Fitzgerald will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father McLaughlin, on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held beginning at 9:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Edward H. Bell, Reverend Keith J. Chylinski, Reverend William B. Dooner, Reverend Monsignor Charles H. Hagan, and Reverend William F. McGeown. Father Chylinski will be the Homilist.

Father McLaughlin is survived by his sister, Eileen (Kevin) O'Rourke, his brothers, Dennis, and Thomas (Patricia), nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
